Working from home seems that it would be safe and pain free, but it is important to consider the injuries you may experience in the comfort of your home. Have you noticed lately that your wrists are sore, or your lower back, or even began experiencing frequent headaches? All these can be signs of repetitive strain injuries from working from home!

However, when you are experiencing this pain it is important to recognize and acknowledge that pain early. Pain is your body’s way of letting you know that it is sensing something that might be harmful in the long term and you should do something about it. Pain should be used as a warning sign, not something to fear.

Injuries Associated with Working from Home

  • Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI)
    • Overuse injuries that occur as a result of doing more than the body can handle
    • Results in trauma to soft tissues, muscles/tendons, and nerves
    •  Common examples of RSI include
      • Carpal tunnel syndrome
      • Rotator cuff injury
      • Tennis elbow
