If you experience sexual & gender-based violence, we are here to support you

You are not alone. We believe you. Any student, staff or faculty member who has experienced something that felt wrong, unsafe or harmful can receive confidential support from the Sexual & Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Centre. Supports are available, and your options and resources will be discussed with you. Survivors are not required to make a report in order to access support.

Do you need support?

Connect with the SGBV Centre to get started. Anyone can be referred or self-refer to the Sexual & Gender-Based Violence Centre to start receiving support:

Urgent Support

If you require immediate medical care, call the Emergency Department at Guelph General Hospital (519-837-6440 x2210) and request the Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Care Team. Support is available 24/7 for people of all genders, and always confidential. Police will not be contacted unless the patient chooses to involve them.

How to support someone experiencing sexual & gender-based violence

If someone discloses to you or you witness an incident of sexual or gender-based violence, there are immediate steps you can take to support the survivor and connect them to the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Centre. You are not responsible for investigating or resolving the incident, but as the first person someone might turn to, you can help them find the support they need.
