Welcome to Student Wellness

The Department of Student Wellness is comprised of 5 different units, all of which provide health and wellbeing support and services to students and to the campus community.  These units include Accessibility Services, Counselling Services, Health Services, Health & Performance Centre and Wellness Education & Promotion. The department itself is part of the Division of Student Affairs.

Student Wellness Mission Statement

Student Wellness provides leadership in building a healthy campus community. We facilitate the development of the whole person by utilizing innovative strategies to promote the student’s optimal well-being and to achieve success in their academic careers.

New Evening Hours

Starting October 4th, 2016, the folllowing services will be available every Tuesday and Wednesday in the J.T. Powell building (1st floor):

Counselling Services offers individual counselling sessions to help support students through personal challenges.

Monday to Friday 8:15am to 4:15pm (year-round)

Walk-In:
Monday to Friday as follows:
12:30pm to 3:30pm (Fall and Winter)

2:00pm to 3:30pm (Summer)


Wellness Education Centre

The Wellness Education Centre offers health and wellbeing programming, resources, and student peer-to-peer support.

HPC provides various athletic/physical-related services.

Hours of Operation:
Monday to Thursday 7:40am to 8:00pm (year-round)
Friday 7:40am to 6:00pm (September to June)
Friday 7:40am to 3:00pm (July and August)

Health Services is our on-campus clinic, containing a dispensary (birth control pills), physicians and nursing services.

Mental Well-Being

Visit the University of Guelph's Mental Well-Being website for more information on Mental Wellness, including how to help a friend in need, and quick tips on dealing with feelings of anxiety, depression, stress, loneliness, relationship issues, and sleep issues. Also find other healthy living resources on campus and ways to get connected and involved in your campus community for overall mental health and wellbeing.

Student Support Network

The Student Support Network is a drop-in peer support group consisting of extensively-trained student volunteers who provide confidential, non-judgemental listening and support to other students.

National College Health Assessment

Last Spring, University of Guelph was one of 41 schools across Canada who participated in the National College Health Assessment (NCHA).  The NCHA is a US based research survey that provides us with an overview of our students’ health habits, behaviours and perceptions.
