HPC Sports Medicine Injection Options

Corticosteroid Injections (Depo-Medrol):

Intra-articular steroid injections provide short-term, moderate pain relief and restoration of function. Corticosteroids are a cost-effective treatment option in patients with early Osteoarthritis.

Hyaluronic Acid (Synvisc/Durolane):

Intra-articular injections of Hyaluronic Acid provide improved pain relieve and restoration of function in patients with mild to moderate Osteoarthritis.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP):

Blood will be taken from your arm like for a blood test, then put in the centrifuge to remove the large blood cells. Then the plasma with platelets and growth factors will be injected into the area of injury. PRP can be used for arthritis or to treat many tendons for chronic tendinopathy or partial tears.

Prolotherapy (Dextrose):

Prolotherapy is a sugar solution that creates irritation in the area where we inject it. The irritation calls on the immune system to heal the injury.  At the HPC, prolotherapy can be used for chronic tendinopathies, partial tendon tears, and is sometimes considered for chronic ligament pain.
