Sports medicine physician’s appointments are covered by the Ontario Ministry of Health with a valid health card. Other provincial plans may be eligible. If for any reason, the Ministry of Health denies coverage for the fees associated with your sport medicine physician’s appointment, you are responsible for the full payment.

For sports medicine, a referral is required by your family doctor if you are within the family health network.

A physician’s referral is not required to access all other services at the HPC, however many extended health plans require a physician’s referral in order to be eligible for coverage. It is recommended you contact your insurance provider for the details of your plan.

Yes, payment is due at the time of service. Payment is accepted by VISA, Mastercard, interact, and cash. A detailed receipt will be provided with your payment. Please be aware that the HPC does not directly bill extended health plan providers.

Many extended health insurance plans cover or partially cover the costs associated with physiotherapy, massage therapy, chiropractic, naturopathic services, orthotics and splints. A number of plans may also cover the costs for nutrition services.

If you are a University of Guelph student, you can access your benefit details from My Student Plan.

It is the client’s responsibility to know the coverage available through their extended health plan.

HPC will be closed during inclement weather if the University of Guelph is closed. Information will be posted on the University of Guelph's website or a recorded message will be available at 519 824-4120. A decision to close the University will be made prior to business hours.
