Building a Plant-Rich Diet
A plant-rich diet is a diet that contains more plants! This means fruits, veggies, grains, and protein sources from plants like legumes, nuts, and tofu. A plant-rich diet does not need to be a strictly vegetarian or vegan diet.

safeTALK Suicide Prevention Training
Designed by Living Works, SafeTALK is a 3.5 hours alertness training and certification that prepares anyone, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper. The SafeTALK trainer will demonstrate the importance of suicide alertness, assist participants to identify ways people invite help, and connect them with resources to help them when they are at risk.
Recommended for: Individuals who are not mental health experts but who might have on-going relationships with people who have mental health issues and/or where the individual is in a position of authority or leadership, or those who are looking to be more prepared to help those around them who may be struggling with thoughts of suicide.
This training is open to all U of G students, staff, and faculty.
Cost to participate: None
Length: 3.5 hours
*please note that attendance for the entire 3.5 hours is necessary to receive certification

16 Days of Activism Against GBV: Lighting Ceremony
To mark the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, U of G will be lighting Johnston Hall purple from Nov. 25 until Dec. 10.
Members of the U of G community and the larger Guelph community are invited to attend a ceremony at 5:30pm on November 25th to initiate the lighting of Johnston Hall and show support for the elimination of gender-based violence. Johnston Hall is being lit purple as the purple ribbon has long been a symbol representing the prevention of gender-based violence.
Free hot beverages are provided!

Beyond the Books - Mental Health Literacy Training
Beyond the Books is a mental health literacy training that will first provide participants with general information on the prevalence of mental challenges and illness in our university community. It will then help participants to identify signs of troubling behaviour or distress, and give them skills to engage in a preliminary discussion to determine if referral to a professional is necessary.
Participants will also learn how and where to refer appropriately in a compassionate and effective manner. This session is designed for individuals who do not have ongoing relationships with individuals but whose roles are such that they may have one-off, in-depth conversations. Students, staff, and faculty are welcome to attend! Instructors are qualified from the Wellness Education Centre.

Receiving a diagnosis of PCOS can feel overwhelming and confusing. Often, treatment recommendations for PCOS include advice to lose weight, with little or no guidance around how to manage the symptoms of PCOS.
