What is manual osteopathy?

Manual osteopathy is a natural medicine and science that treats the whole person with the goal to relieve pain, improve mobility and restore health and vitality.

A treatment plan is formulated by understanding the relationship between the structure of the body and how well it functions and knowing the connections between all the tissues, fluids, organs and systems of the body.

An osteopathic manual practitioner is educated to examine, diagnose, treat and give a prognosis where this relationship between structure and function may be compromised. During treatment, an osteopathic manual practitioner influences the spine and peripheral joints and, in consideration with the above, the fluids, fascia and tissues that complete the human body. We perform gentle movements to organs and joints to improve the biomechanical function of the whole body. Once the mechanical distribution of force and movement is restored, your body has the ability to use its innate ability to heal allowing for reduction in pain and improvement in health.

An osteopathic manual practitioner is present to facilitate and act as the catalyst for your body to return to improved health. It is an osteopathic manual practitioner's responsibility to remove the physical barriers that are often in place from previous injuries, occupational postures, physical tensions and previous states of ill health so that your body's drive for improvement in health is realized.
