STEP 1: Choose your preferred SAS registration option (Standard or Self-Directed)
Select your preferred SAS registration option after carefully reviewing the considerations below.
Please take note of the key SAS deadlines that may impact your ability to register with SAS late in the semester.

STEP 2: Complete the relevant SAS Application Form (Standard or Self-Directed)
There are two separate application forms for the Standard and Self-Directed Registration options. You can only complete one application form, so please ensure you consider your registration option carefully before choosing.
Applications with documentation are usually processed in about 1-12 business days, depending on the volume of applications received.
What you need to complete the application:
-
Current enrollment or acceptance of an offer of admission
-
U of G username and log-in credentials
-
U of G Student ID #
Current students can apply at any time of the semester, however the relevant SAS deadlines will still apply.
Please provide as much disability-related information as possible on your application. This helps us to provide the best assistance possible to you at the point of registration with SAS.
STEP 3: Submit Your Documentation
Documentation can be included at the time of applying or uploaded later using the customized link sent by email. Applications with documentation are usually processed in 1—12 business days, depending on the volume of applications received. We will process submissions as quickly as possible to ensure accommodations are in place as soon as possible.
You will be required to submit documentation from a registered health professional which verifies the existence of a disability and describes your current functional abilities given the condition you experience. Please consult our documentation guidelines and contact our office for additional assistance, if needed.
If you do not have documentation or you are submitting documentation that doesn’t align with our documentation guidelines, you may be asked to provide additional information or documentation, which can delay the application process. We will follow up if additional information is requested and we are available to walk you through the process as needed.
Review our Documentation Guidelines ➝
STEP 4: Monitor your U of G Email Account for Next Steps
STANDARD REGISTRATION: Book Your Initial Appointment with your SAS Advisor |
SELF-DIRECTED REGISTRATION: Review SAS Emails & Attend a Group Activation Appointment |
---|---|
If you have opted into the Standard Registration, it’s necessary to meet with your Advisor before accommodation eligibility can be determined. Learn more about Meeting With Your SAS Advisor.
Not in Guelph yet? Appointments can be virtual! Accommodations take time to set up and wait times may increase during high volume periods. Please book your appointment when directed. |
|
If you have questions about the accommodations that you are receiving, you can attend the SAS Daily Drop-In or book a follow-up appointment with your SAS Advisor. You are responsible for following up with your SAS Advisor in a timely manner if you require any additional accommodations. For more directions on when to attend Daily Drop-In or book an appointment with your Advisor, review information on the various SAS roles.
STEP 5: Attend a Summer Orientation Event (if relevant)
Various accessibility events are hosted during the summer (June - September) to help first-year undergrads, returning, transfer and graduate students understand how SAS works.
If you are attending the University of Guelph for the first time in the Fall semester, be sure to check out our Orientation Events page to help you navigate your first year with SAS.
