Getting Help
We will be offering a series of drop-in sessions where you can ask questions and get a quick tour of the system. Sessions are daily at 2 PM on Microsoft Teams through May 18 (excluding the weekend). More sessions may be added as needed.
Quick Tour
Length: 4 min | Power Point
Key Messages:
- The first time you login, you'll need to sign the "Agreement for Services" before you can proceed.
- You can sign up for SMS text messages for notifications.
- My Eligibility shows you the accommodations you can request for your courses.
Submitting Additional Documentation
Length: 5 min | Power Point
Key Messages:
- If you recently completed an SAS application and have NOT yet been assigned an advisor, you should have received an email with a link to return and upload documentation if needed.
- If you have been assigned an on-going SAS advisor and asked to provide additional or updated documentation, use this tool to send it to us.
- There are two stesp: first you answer a few simple questions, then on the next page you upload a digital version of your document(s).
- You can scan paper documents with an app on your phone. We recommend searching the App Store or Google Play for a PDF scanner such as Adobe Scan for Android and iOS (free).
Request an Appointment
Length: 3 min | Power Point
Key Messages:
- In this procedure, you tell us when you are available and a staff member will match this with the first available appointment of your SAS advisor.
- Your appointment might not fill the entire block of time. Think of it as range when you are be able to have an appointment.
- You can modify or cancel a request after it has been submitted.
Request Accommodations for the Semester
Length: 4 min | Power Point
Key Messages:
- Choose the courses where you would like accommodations.
- Select which accommodations you would like for each course.
- You can go back and make changes later.
- You can see the status of your request (e.g. approved or pending).
Making an Exam Booking when SAS Already Knows the Details
Length: 5 min | Power Point
Key Messages:
- SAS will gather the date, time, and format of exams from instructors through the "alternative testing agreement".
- Choose the course, then click "schedule exam".
- Read the information provided by your instructor.
- The Exam Centre closes at 9 PM. If you need extra time for an evening exam, you might need to choose an earlier start time.
- Except when starting earlier in order to finish by 9 PM, you must write at the same time as the class. Otherwise, you need to send an email to sas.exams@uoguelph.ca with authorization from the instructor for the alternate time.
- The "requested technology" box option only applies if the whole class is writing in person and the instructor has said everyone can use their own laptops.
Making an Exam Booking Without the Details
Length: 5 min | Power Point
Key Messages:
- In this scenario, SAS does not yet have an "alternative testing agreement" from the instructor. You can still make a booking, but it looks a little different.
- Start by choosing the course, then click "schedule an exam".
- Chose the type of booking (quiz, midterm or final) and the date the class is scheduled to write.
- These three notes are the same as a regular booking (described above):
- The Exam Centre closes at 9 PM. If you need extra time for an evening exam, you might need to choose an earlier start time.
- Except when starting earlier in order to finish by 9 PM, you must write at the same time as the class. Otherwise, you need to send an email to sas.exams@uoguelph.ca with authorization from the instructor for the alternate time.
- The "requested technology" box option only applies if the whole class is writing in person and the instructor has said everyone can use their own laptops.
- Until we have details from the instructor, you cannot modify your booking.
Modifying an Exam Booking
Length: 3 min | Power Point
Key Messages:
- Any change after the booking deadlines is the same as a late booking. Late requests are typically cancelled due to limited resources in the exam centre.
- You can use this procedure to change the accommodations you have requested for your exam before the booking deadline.
- If you no longer need a booking (e.g. you've dropped the course) use the "cancel request" option.
- There is a $20 no-show fee if you do not use a booking and don't cancel.
Making a Late Booking Request for an Exam
Length: 4 min | Power Point
Key Messages:
- A late booking is either a MODIFICATION or a new booking after the exam deadlines.
- If you are entering a new booking after the deadline, you must choose one of the provided reasons and can provide additional information.
- Submitting a late booking does not guarantee it will be accepted. We hate saying no to late bookings, but there are only so many hours in the day and so many seats in the Exam Centre.
- If you missed the exam booking deadline and a late booking is not accepted, then it needs to be treated the same as if you had missed the exam itself.
Important: Tests & Exams
If you use the SAS Exam Centre, please remember that all test and exam bookings must be submitted at least 10 BUSINESS DAYS ahead of when you intend to write.
In addition, the last day any bookings can be received is the first business day in November, March or July as appropriate for the semester.
