Student Accessibility Services offers various transition supports to help students with the transition to university life as a student with a disability.

Summer Orientation Events

Throughout the summer, join SAS and the START Accessible Team for various events, sessions and activities on all things SAS. We have a combination of virtual and on-campus events. If you missed a virtual event, recordings will be available a day or two after they happen.

Be sure to complete your SAS Application to register with SAS and receive updates about supports and services.

SAS Connections

SAS Connections is an opportunity for students and their parents/guardians to obtain information about Student Accessibility Services and campus services to help better understand and prepare for the transition from high school to university. There will be both in-person and virtual options:

Connections On-Campus: The in-person SAS Connections is a great opportunity for students to become familiar with campus and SAS services prior to the fall.   

Dates: July 10th or July 24th from 10am - 3pm 

  • Learn about SAS and the Transition to University  
  • Review of SAS services and supports 
  • Find out what to expect in first year 
  • Campus Tour 
  • Parent session on how to support your student in first year 
  • Q&A Drop-In with SAS Advisor  
  • Optional - Module 1 EYES at U of G 

Register for Connections On-Campus : Registration required at least 2 weeks prior to the event date 

Connections Virtual: 

Dates: July 15th or July 29th at 4:00pm 

This one-hour information session will provide an overview for SAS Students and their families on: 

  • How to connect with SAS 
  • The role of your advisor and how accommodations are determined
  • Your role in accessing supports 

Common themes include: taking a reduced courseload, OSAP and bursaries, documentation requirements, transition programs.

There will be an opportunity for SAS students and parents/guardians to ask questions.

START Accessible

Dates: Wednesday, September 2 - Friday, September 4

This in-person 2 ½ day orientation provides new SAS students with the opportunity to:

  • Connect with their advisor
  • Visit SAS services and resources
  • Learn how to access and set-up your accommodations for the fall
  • Build connections with other new students
  • Option to move into their residence room early
  • Experience university life before the hustle and bustle of O-Week

Who should attend START Accessible?

All first-year students registered with SAS, whether you’ve met with an advisor or not and regardless of registration method, would benefit from the program.     

Registration is required: Registration Opens June 1st

EYES at U of G

EYES (Equipping Yourself for Educational Success) at U of G is an online program intended for students with disabilities starting university in September. It is self-paced so you can progress through it as your summer schedule allows. 

The program provides:

  • Six modules you can work through at your own pace starting early July
  • Early chance to experience CourseLink (the platform U of G uses for all academic courses)
  • Optional in-person Class for Module One

Topics Include:

  • Helpful tips to support the transition to university
  • Information on University exams
  • Campus Resources
  • How to work with your advisor
  • Normal feelings when starting post-secondary
  • Accessing disability-related supports and much more!

Registration for EYES at U of G Required:  We recommend signing up before July 15

New for 2026: Optional EYES at UofG In-Person Module One Class
This 1-hour in-person class will help walk you through Module One and get you started on the program. It is an opportunity to review the platform, connect with other students in the program and get started on the right path. (Optional)

            July 10, 2:30pm-3:30pm (in conjunction with SAS Connections)
            July 13, 11 am to noon (stand alone class)
