October 10 - Closed in the morning

The front desk of Accessibility Services and Counselling Services will be closed in the morning of Tuesday, October 10 (Fall Study Day) in order to allow staff to attend a professional development opportunity.  We will reopen at 1pm.

Research via an individual interview on well-being and the factors that promote well-being for students who have experience with mental illness while attending University. We want to learn more about what helps these students thrive despite the complexities of their experience.

Human Rights Resource Person and Fact Finders

The Office of Diversity and Human Rights (DHR) is now seeking applications from students who wish to play an important role in fostering an inclusive campus through their direct participation in the University of Guelph’s human rights complaint resolution procedures.

Group Registration for Some Returning Students

We are offering a new "group" SAS registration option for returning students this Fall semester.  This is specifically for students who have been registered with SAS in a previous semester and whose Advisor is: Wendy, Melissa, Susan, Laura or Patty.  

This option is available on September 13th and 20th at 5pm and again at 6pm.  This 30 minute session will include approval of existing accommodations, information about new resources, and updates about changes in SAS processes.

Note Taking Office: Fall 2017

To volunteer or to request notes, please use the SAS Portal.  This service helps individuals who experience barriers to taking their own notes, either because of a disability related to information processing, or because of a dexterity impairment.  It is not a good substitute for going to class, as engaging with the presentation of course material is an important learning strategy.

My name is Loa Gordon and I am a graduate student in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Guelph. Functional Assessment

We have updated our Functional Assessment form to be simpler while still providing essential information for setting up appropriate accommodations.  This form is typically used to document a variety of disabilities such as mental health, medical, mobility, dexterity and sensory disabilities.  There are some occasions where other documentation is more appropriate.
