When there's snow and ice on campus
When there is active winter precipitation, Physical Resources makes a best effort to keep all walkways clear starting with the priority areas. At the same time, there are some limits to how quickly they can work. We also know that there are sometimes trouble spots where walkways (maintained by U of G) cross city streets (maintained by the City of Guelph). If a snow plough goes by after a walkway has been cleared, a snowbank may temporarily create a barrier. The university makes a best effort to monitor these spots and respond as quickly as possible.
In the event that you see a trouble spot or have difficulties during winter weather, here's how to get help:
Level 1 - Suggestion: General concern or feedback related to snow removal. Email snow@pr.uoguelph.ca
Level 2 - Non-Emergency: Immediate snow assistance for persons with disabilities. Dial 519-824-4120 ex 53854
Level 3 - Emergency: Immediate risk of critical harm to yourself or someone else. Dial ext. 52000 or 519-840-5000 or 911.
You can also look for the snow help button in the SafeGryphon App. To ensure the accuracy of the above phone numbers update your SafeGryphon App by selecting “About / Preferences” scroll down and press the last yellow tab "Data Update".
Note that for the winter semester, SAS will provide Physical Resources with a list of courses for students who need barrier-free access to classrooms and walkways. This will not include any identifying information, but will focus on a list of dates, times and places. This will then be used to help prioritize snow and ice removal.
Important: Tests & Exams
If you use the SAS Exam Centre, please remember that all test and exam bookings must be submitted at least 10 BUSINESS DAYS ahead of when you intend to write.
In addition, the last day any bookings can be received is the first business day in November, March or July as appropriate for the semester.
