Note Taking Office: Fall 2017

Posted on Monday, September 4th, 2017

To volunteer or to request notes, please use the SAS Portal.  This service helps individuals who experience barriers to taking their own notes, either because of a disability related to information processing, or because of a dexterity impairment.  It is not a good substitute for going to class, as engaging with the presentation of course material is an important learning strategy.

To become a volunteer, simply login and click on "volunteer to take notes."  Then "browse courses" to located the ones you're taking this semester.  Once you're on the page for one of your courses, click on "Volunteer to take notes".  If we need notes for that course, you'll get an email confirming that you have been selected as a volunteer and with instructions on how to submit your notes.

Requesting Notes

In order to request notes, you must be registered with SAS and have this approved by your Advisor as an accommodation.  You'll receive an email when you have been approved to receive notes.  You can then login and "browse courses".  Once you are on the page for one of your courses, click on "request notes."  When notes have been uplodated for one of your courses, you'll get an email letting you know.

Here's a short video that describes how to use the portal for students who would like to request notes.
