Each semester, the courses you take may have unique requirements and expectations that affect the types of accommodations you require. Similarly, there may be changes in your health that result in the need to update the supports we provide. For these reasons, your registration status with SAS must be updated every semester that you enroll in courses.
Regular “Semester Request” SAS Registration Process
At the beginning of each semester, students registered with SAS in the previous semesters will receive an email with instructions on how to make a “semester request” and register with SAS for the current semester. These semester requests are reviewed for approval by the advisor, and the next steps are identified.
Please note that there may be times when your advisor requires you to provide additional/updated documentation. Your advisor will let you know if/when this applies to you. You are also welcome to book an appointment with your advisor if you have any questions/concerns about your documentation or accommodations through our front desk at 519-824-4120 x56208.
Pre-Approved SAS Registration
If you have registered with SAS for at least two semesters, you have a permanent disability, and there are no changes in your accommodation needs, your advisor may offer/recommend this option to help expedite the accommodation process. You are still welcome to check in with your advisor at a later time if you require assistance.
Students who are eligible for the pre-approved process will receive an email from SAS@uoguelph.ca before or early in the semester. Note that students with mental health disabilities are not generally eligible for the pre-approval process but instead may use express registration.
Next Day, Drop-in Advising
If you need a brief conversation with your Advisor to troubleshoot a specific problem, you might want to consider using our daily, next-day drop-in. Your Advisor is available most days from 10-11:30 am. Please contact our front desk for assistance with accessing drop-in.
