Eating Disorder Awareness Week, February 1-7, 2026

February 1 to 7, 2026 is Eating Disorders Awareness Week. This week focuses on improving awareness of the impact of Eating Disorders, the dangerous stereotypes and myths, and the supports available for people living with or affected by them.

Eating Disorders Awareness Week Events:

Mirrorless Monday

Monday, February 2 / 12:00 – 2:30pm / University Centre (UC) Courtyard

In recognition of Eating Disorders Awareness Week, students will be encouraged to write an affirmation that focuses on qualities about themselves other than their appearance and place the affirmations on the mirror. The idea is that the mirror will become completely covered with affirmations. This program encourages students to shift their focus away from their appearance for that day (and beyond) and to promote healthy body image on campus. Education on the societal impact of beauty standards on individuals, and how to fight against the appearance ideal will also be shared by WEPC Peers. Free giveaways will be provided!

Cookie Decorating and Button Making

Tuesday, February 4 / 12:00 – 2:30pm / University Centre (UC) Courtyard

In recognition of Eating Disorders Awareness Week, students will be invited to decorate a cookie while learning about eating disorders and supports available on campus, in the community, and online. Students can also (or alternatively) make a body positive button. This event will support students with Identifying at least 1 support to help them or a friend who is struggling with eating disorders, learn at least 1 fact or bust 1 myth around eating disorders to reduce stigma, and promote self-love and inspire others. Free giveaways will be provided!

Faces of Recovery Virtual Event Hosted by the Waterloo Wellington Eating Disorders Coalition
