What is the Flip the Script with EAAA™ program?
The Flip the Script with EAAA™ program is a 12-hour sexual violence resistance education program that aims to empower young women to recognize and advocate for consenting and fulfilling relationships, identify risks of sexual assault and cues of coercive behavior, and build confidence in defending themselves verbally and physically in situations of sexual violence.
Through group discussions, workshop activities, and lessons in physical self-defense, the program aims to provide women with effective tools for understanding their rights and overcoming obstacles to acknowledging risk and defending themselves.

The EAAA program is open to students under the age of 26 of all sexual identities who identify as women or non-binary but are comfortable being in a space that centers women’s experiences, and specifically, the social norms that young women face. This program will use binary language.
Each program will have two of the following facilitators. The Facilitators of the Flip the Script with EAAA Program at the University of Guelph are:
June Baldwin (she/her): Coordinator, Neighbourhood Relations and Off-Campus Living, Student Experience
Sam Monday (she/they): Residence Life Manager, Student Housing Services
Ally (Alexandra) Stoett (she/her): Indigenous Student Advisor, Indigenous Student Centre
Jensen Williams (she/they): Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Education Coordinator and Flip the Script with EAAA™ Campus Trainer
The Flip the Script with EAAA™ program has four components: Assess, Acknowledge, Act, and Relationships & Sexuality. Because the content is scaffolded (it builds on things you’ve learned in prior sessions) we don’t allow folks to join for just one part of the program. If scheduling is tricky for you, and you’d like to explore your options, contact us at sveducation@uoguelph.ca [2]
Women are not responsible for preventing sexual violence from happening to them, as that responsibility lies entirely with the person who chose to be sexually coercive. Because of this fact, this program focuses on resistance, not prevention. Women can’t prevent someone from trying to harm them, but the research shows that women can fight back when given the right tools. Recognizing that most women will be exposed to at least one sexually coercive person in their lives, Flip the Script™ helps develop our skill set for resisting sexual violence. The program believes that women have the right to resist and defend themselves, and provides women with the skills and tools to do so effectively and confidently.
The Flip the Script with EAAA™ program was designed with university-aged women in mind. This doesn’t mean that non-binary, gender-fluid, or other gender diverse folks can’t attend, but does mean that the content might not feel as meaningful. This program looks at women’s experiences, and specifically, the social norms that young women face - the pressures around being nice, or not making a scene. This program does use binary language (e.g. referring to “men” and “women”). If you’d like to chat about this further, you can reach out to us at sveducation@uoguelph.ca [2]. The SARE Centre is currently working towards an adaptation of the Flip the Script with EAAA™ program for transgender and non-binary folks specifically. If you’re interested to learn more, you can contact the SARE Centre [3].
