The Wellness Education and Promotion Centre offers experiential learning opportunities for students through the Peer Helper Program. Our Peer Wellness Educators work as part of a team to provide information about a range of health and wellness-related topics. ABC: Awareness, Balance, Choice
ABC promotes awareness and education about substance use using a harm reduction approach. We provide information, resources, and programs related to safer drinking, safer drug use, and reminding folks that it’s ok to not use substances!
Our objective is to create a safe and accepting campus for everyone where they are free to choose low-risk options as part of a balanced lifestyle.
ABC programs and events include:
- Dry January
- Build your own safer party kits at Homecoming, Halloween, and St. Patrick’s Day
- Naloxone Training
Forward Minds
Forward Minds is our mental health awareness Peer Helper team dedicated to shining a light on mental health issues affecting students on campus. Our goal is to educate students about mental health issues in order to remove the stigma associated with mental illness and to provide resources, workshops, and events to help students improve their own mental well-being.
Forward Minds programs and events include:
- Shine Week
- Workshops on mindfulness, self-compassion, perfectionism and more
- Stress busters like pottery painting and movie nights
HEAL: Healthy Eating, Active Living
HEAL aims to increase knowledge and awareness on nutrition and fitness, as well as on eating disorders, body image, and self-esteem. We strive to help students feel confident about making informed food choices and engaging in regular movement within the health at every size philosophy.
HEAL programs and events include:
- Eating Disorder Awareness Week
- Mood Routes
- Smoothie socials
NAKED
NAKED is our sexual health education team. We use a sex-positive and choice model framework to provide students with information and resources to make decisions that feel good for them and fit within their identities.
NAKED programs and events include:
- Sexual health resource fair
- Sex ed workshops
- Saturdays with NAKED
