Peer Wellness Education Teams

The Wellness Education and Promotion Centre offers experiential learning opportunities for students through the Peer Helper Program. Our Peer Wellness Educators work as part of a team to provide information about a range of health and wellness-related topics. Check out our teams, their focus, and examples of each team's programming.

ABC: Awareness, Balance, Choice

ABC promotes awareness and education about substance use using a harm reduction approach. We provide information, resources, and programs related to safer drinking, safer drug use, and reminding folks that it’s ok to not use substances!
Our objective is to create a safe and accepting campus for everyone where they are free to choose low-risk options as part of a balanced lifestyle.

ABC programs and events include:

  • Dry January
  • Build your own safer party kits at Homecoming, Halloween, and St. Patrick’s Day
  • Naloxone Training

CARE: Collective Approaches to Resilience Education

CARE is our mental health awareness and self-care Peer Helper team, dedicated to supporting holistic well-being. We focus on educating students about mental health issues in order to remove the stigma associated with mental illness, as well as sharing workshops, events, and resources about other self-care topics, including nutrition, movement, body image, and sleep.

CARE programs and events include:

  • Shine Week
  • Eating Disorder Awareness Week
  • Workshops on mindfulness, self-compassion, sleep, perfectionism and more

NAKED

NAKED is our sexual health education team. We use a sex-positive and choice model framework to provide students with information and resources to make decisions that feel good for them and fit within their identities.

NAKED programs and events include:

  • Sexual health resource fair
  • Sexual health workshops
  • STI testing day in the UC

SAFE: Sexual Assault Free Environment

SAFE is our sexual violence education Peer Educator Team. SAFE aims to promote respectful healthy relationships and consent for the University of Guelph community through their creation of student-led educational social media campaigns, communication materials, online articles, programming and events.

SAFE programs and events include:

  • #WeBelieveYouDay
  • Consent Action Week
  • Consent education around Halloween and St. Patrick's Day
