Nervous about returning to campus?

Submitted by btownshe on July 13th, 2021 11:16 AM

We've heard from a number of students who are feeling apprehensive about returning to campus in the fall, which is understandable given that we've all spent the last year and a half learning and working from home. Sometimes these concerns are disability-related, in which case please speak with your SAS advisor. Below are some tips to think about if your concerns are not disability-related, or if you're simply looking for additional options to consider.

Review the information from public health [1] and get vaccinated when you can.

Start easing yourself back into community life when it is safe to do so. Can you walk around your community a little bit each day?

Can you make a plan to gradually build up to something resembling on-campus learning?

When you come back to campus, what are the most important in-person activities to do? Can you limit some of the "nice to have" experiences until you're feeling more comfortable?

Can you emphasize DE courses in the fall and take fewer on-campus courses as you get used to face-to-face learning again?

Can you take one or more courses on a letter of permission [2] that are offered in a DE format from another institution?

Do you need to take fewer courses overall in the fall semester as a part of a transition back to learning on campus?

Take a look at the "Start here for second year [3]" webpage.
