Accessibility Services Programs & Services
Each student who is registered with Student Accessibility Services is connected with an Advisor [1]. This professional staff member meets with students on a one-on-one basis to discuss accommodation needs and offer individual coaching.
Sometimes one of the best ways of getting support is to talk with peers who have similar experiences. We offer a number of support groups [2] where students can explore the ways their lives are affected by their disabilities, and to uncover strategies for achieving their goals.
In partnership with the Psychology Department, SAS offers two courses that may be counted as electives towards one's degree. PSYC*1300 [3] is specifically for students with a learning disability and PSYC*1400 [4] is for students with a mental health disability.
For students who have difficulty with taking notes in class, the SAS Note Taking Office [5] can assist with notes from volunteers.
The Rec Club [6] is offered in collaboration with the Department of Athletics and helps students with disabilities with access to recreational athletic facilities.
If a student suspects that they have a learning disability or ADHD [7], they can email our SAS intake coordinator at sas.intake@uoguelph.ca [8] for more information. View our ADHD Assessment Process [7].
Finally, some disabilities make it more difficult to navigate the campus. Accessibility Guides [9], who are student volunteers, can help with getting to class, meals, or finding your way to various buildings.
